A licensed occupation is one you can practise only after a provincial or territorial regulator confirms you meet its standard, usually by passing a licensing or certification exam. Licensing protects the public in fields such as health care, financial services, engineering and the skilled trades. CCEC mock exams are online, self-paced and built to the format of each official exam.
Now open: Ontario Pesticide Exterminator Core Exam and Ontario Pesticide Exterminator Structural Exam. Coming next: LLQP and Canadian Securities Course (CSC), National Professional Practice Exam (NPPE) for engineers and geoscientists, Nursing and Pharmacy Licensing Exams, Pesticide Licensing Exams for other provinces and territories, Real Estate Licensing Exams and Red Seal Trades Certification Exams.
A licence in these occupations can also travel. Under the Canadian Free Trade Agreement, a worker certified in a regulated occupation, such as a pesticide applicator, insurance or real estate agent, nurse, pharmacist or engineer, is generally recognized by the regulator in another province or territory, with limited exceptions. Red Seal trades share one national standard, and most provincial and territorial nursing regulators use the NCLEX-RN, the same licensing exam used in the United States.
Exterminators use pesticides to control pests in buildings, landscapes and other settings. In Ontario, an exterminator needs a licence from the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks, and certification starts with the Core Manual exam (Part 1: 50 multiple-choice questions, 1 hour, closed book, 75% to pass), set by Ontario Pesticide Training and Certification (OPT&C).
CCEC offers a free diagnostic test, eight content-area quizzes with explanations and timed 50-question mock exams, 100% online.
Structural exterminators control insects, rodents, birds and other pests in and around buildings such as homes, restaurants and warehouses. The Structural licence class needs the Structural module exam (Part 2: 50 multiple-choice questions, 1.5 hours, open book, 75% to pass) as well as the Core exam.
CCEC offers a free diagnostic test, eight content-area quizzes with explanations and six timed 50-question mock exams, 100% online. A Core and Structural bundle is available.
CCEC mock exams are practice exams. They are not set, recognized or scored by any licensing or examining body, and passing them does not by itself qualify anyone for a licence. Registration for the official exam, its fees and the licence itself are handled by the licensing body.
